Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes the services provided, applicable billing codes, provider information, and the amount you paid. You can submit it to your insurance company to request possible out of network reimbursement. Reimbursement depends on your plan and is not guaranteed.
Do I need a referral?
A referral is not always required for private-pay services. Depending on your concerns, medical history, or need for additional testing, a referral or prior medical evaluation may be recommended.
How long will I need therapy to see progress?
Progress varies from person to person. Some may see noticeable changes in just 4 sessions, while others might need ongoing or periodic support to maintain function and quality of life. We'll discuss your goals and expected plan of care, and adjust as you progress.
Do I need an MBSS or FEES prior to scheduling a swallow evaluation?
No. You do not need to have an instrumental swallow study before scheduling an evaluation. We can start with a clinical swallow evaluation and discuss whether imaging may be helpful based on your individual needs. If further testing is recommended, we can help connect you with an appropriate provider.
How will I access my forms, appointments, and billing information?
After scheduling, you will receive access to the secure, HIPAA-compliant SimplePractice Client Portal. The portal provides one secure place to complete forms, review appointment details, make payments, and access other documents. If your appointment is through telehealth, you will also join the video visit through the portal.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Please provide at least 24 hours notice when possible. Late cancellations and missed appointments may be subject to a fee. Exceptions may be considered for emergencies or unexpected circumstances.
